The connector, the closer and the commercial engine
So, what the does Sales do at Aventedge?
In short, Sales is how a great conference becomes a commercial success. Without the Sales team, the room never fills and the sponsors never show up. It sounds simple — but the execution is anything but.
There are two sides to Sales at Aventedge: Delegate Sales and Sponsorship Sales. Different audiences, different conversations, the same core mission — to persuade smart, senior people that this conference is worth their time and money.
The Delegate Sales side
Every conference needs an audience. Delegate Sales is responsible for filling the room with the right people — senior executives, decision-makers and industry leaders who are willing to back themselves with a serious financial commitment to attend.
This isn’t your traditional sales job. You won’t be selling software licenses or phone plans. You’ll be calling a CFO or a Chief Risk Officer and convincing them — in under five minutes — why leaving the office for two days is the best investment they can make for their career and their organisation.
The pitch isn’t scripted. It’s built on genuine understanding of what that person is dealing with right now — the pressures on their desk, the decisions they need to make — and connecting those challenges to the value that only our conference can deliver. When it clicks, it’s incredibly satisfying.
The Sponsorship Sales side
While Delegate Sales fills the room, Sponsorship Sales funds the whole show.
Technology companies, consultancies and professional services firms pay to put their brand, their people and their solutions in front of our delegate audience. Your job is to help them see why.
But this isn’t a brochure-selling exercise. It’s a strategic conversation with a VP of Marketing or Head of Partnerships about how sponsoring our conference fits into their pipeline strategy, their brand positioning and their annual growth targets. You need to understand your audience deeply — because the vendors you’re calling want to know you understand their customers just as well as you understand them.
Deal sizes are bigger, sales cycles are longer, and the conversations go deeper. It rewards patience, preparation and the ability to think commercially on your feet.
Not for the faint-hearted
Both sides of Sales at Aventedge require a particular kind of person. If the following sounds like you, read on.
- You don’t shy away from a hard conversation. Cold calling a C-suite executive isn’t everyone’s idea of a good time. You see it as a challenge, not a threat.
- You’re genuinely curious about business. The best reps here can talk intelligently about the pressures facing a CIO in financial services or a COO in government. You read widely. You connect dots.
- You’re motivated by results. Commission, targets, leaderboards — these don’t stress you out, they drive you. You track your own numbers and know exactly where you stand.
- You build real rapport, fast. You’re warm and credible from the first sentence. People take your calls because you’re worth talking to.
- Bonus point: You hate generic. You’ve been on the receiving end of bad sales calls and you refuse to be that person. Your approach is always tailored, always relevant, never scripted.
Your journey
0–3 months – Getting your feet under you
The first few months are about learning the product, the market and the craft of a great sales conversation. You’ll make a lot of calls. Some will go well. Many won’t. That’s the job. The reps who get through this phase treat every “no” as data, not defeat.
How we help: You’ll have a dedicated sales manager running daily debriefs, live call coaching and access to our playbooks — built from years of what actually works in our market.
4–6 months – Finding your rhythm
By now you know the product cold and you’ve started to develop your own voice. You’re hitting your first milestones, building a pipeline of warm prospects and seeing the return from relationships you planted in month one.
7–12 months and beyond – Owning it
The best salespeople at Aventedge don’t just hit their numbers — they become trusted voices in the industries they sell into. Delegates rebook because of the relationship. Sponsors return because they know the investment works. When you reach this stage, you’re not just selling a conference. You’re helping build a community.
